5 THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER SAY TO YOUR SPOUSE

Marriage is a lifelong commitment, and like any other relationship, it has its ups and downs.

There are likely certain things you and your spouse disagree on, or topics that just seem to strike a nerve.

But marriage counselors say there are some things you should never say to your partner, even if they are true to how you feel.

It should go without saying that you shouldn't throw around the word "divorce" when talking to your spouse.

"Maybe we should just get a divorce."

Absolute words like "always" and "never" can make your spouse feel alone, so you shouldn't use them when you're trying to make a point.

'You always/never do this."

It's normal to feel bad when you think you've let someone down in any situation.

"You're disappointing me."

Comparisons are a big no-no in marriage, and you should avoid them at all costs when it comes to your previous relationship, say experts.

"My ex wouldn't do this."

The same goes for words that call your partner's judgment into question.

"Why are you doing that?" and "What were you thinking?"
